Fun times

Since Grandpop was out of town this weekend, Andrew decided to step in and keep Grandmom company. Here they are enjoying some time together at the park. Andrew had a great time on the swings and went on the big twisty slide for the first time.

He is talking more and more and when he would go down the slide he would shout"Rye you Grandmom!" (rye= love, not sure why)

He has also started saying "no thank you" to everything.

Earlier in the week he went to the Botanical Gardens with his pal Henry. Andrew had never been before so Henry had to give him a lay of the land.
Here they are scoping things out.
Andrew was very cautious. After detaching him from my leg he checked out one of the fountains.

I wish I could have captured the look on his face when they jacked up the water pressure.

Always ready to lend a helping hand, Andrew did a little raking.
He climbed this latter all by himself (although Henry gave him lots of moral support)

Little boater

Andrew decided to spend his Sunday afternoon with Pop pop and Mimi. He kicked off the afternoon by entertaining us with his piano playing skills.

He had to select just the right song.
Getting started.
Tickling the ivories.

The end.

The grown ups enjoyed a crab feast. Andrew actually tried some but he mostly ate pretzels. Here is John trying to keep up with three former Marylanders.

Andrew is still trying to figure out his sunglasses.
Waiting patiently to go down to Pop-pops boat.

Here they go.
Andrew is thinking about whether he will go aboard or not.
Decision made.

Another attempt at a family photo.

Enough fooling around. Some people have work to do.

His favorite part was going up and down the stairs.
Andrew likes this better than Pop-pop's sail boat, so does John because this boat doesn't make him sick.

Someone was getting tired of having his picture taken.

One more try.

Happy Father's Day!

Andrew kicked off Father's day by enjoying a pancake breakfast. Here he is with his grapes, his pancake and syrup for dipping. The boy loves to dip. The grapes were fed to Clementine.

The day before he went to a birthday party.

Here he is in the bouncy house. He refused to bounce.

Earlier in the week we had gone out to eat with Andrew's friend Morris and on the way home John spotted a child's drum set sitting on the side of the road. John is many things but observant isn't one of them, these drums are the exception. Anyway, our car came screeching to a halt and John got out and talked to the family throwing out the drums. That is how Andrew got his first drum set.
After some tuning the first of many lessons began.

Check out the skills.

Party Man!

Today is Andrew's second birthday. He is doing so many funny things and is such a great little guy. A few of his favorite things are: pointing out school buses, chasing/being chased by Clementine (tine tine as he calls her), napping, "reading", and being with his grandparents. This weekend he decided to get down and party!

Here he is testing out his toy box/bench that Grandmom and Grandpop got him.

It passed his rigorous inspection.

He greeted his guests including Nana, who came down from Philadelphia with his great aunt MJ.
He wore a silly hat.
He got a lot of wonderful gifts

He liked ripping the paper off of this huge present from Pop Pop and Mimi.

There was plenty to eat. Then it was time for cake!
(Chocolate chocolate chip with buttercream frosting from Chocollage)

There were two candles to blow out this year.
Less talking more cake!

Then it was back to playing.
Man stuff.

Trying on his new bike seat

Andrew had a great time at his party and is lucky to have so many people in his life that love him.

The weekend wasn't over yet! Sunday he headed to an Italian picnic in Williamsburg with Grandma and Grandpa D.
Don't be fooled by these pics I think all he ate was some bread and maybe some grapes.

Checking out the cars.
Trying to fuse two sticks into one. (FYI It didn't work)
Attempt to get a decent picture of the three of us.
Failure.

Kicking back with some Thomas the Train.

After Daddy and Andrew regained their strength they took the new bike seat on her maiden voyage.
Much fun was had.

It was an exciting weekend , Andrew and Mommy slept in until 1030 on Monday. (There was NyQuil involved for one of us.) Hopefully this terrible two business won't be too bad!
