7 Weeks Old

Andrew is now seven weeks, two days old. He has grown into his first hat. This is another picture of him sleeping in his car seat, oblivious to the fact that he is wearing a hat.

Because the weekend was so busy, and since I have yet to upload new pics onto the web, I will instead post a few pics from the first few days of his life. Enjoy.

Here he is w/ grandparents. I don't have any w/ Keith or Anita with me but will add them.

Pants Man

Andrew can finally fit in some of his pants. Don't get me wrong, they are pulled up past his tummy and can't be tied tight enough, but he wears them just the same. Here he is hanging out in his crib, sporting his khakis and his first shirt that doesn't snap at the bottom. Very mature, and he knows it. Despite having a very fussy day, he did well when we took him out to eat. He sat in his car seat and slept for the majority of the time. He seemed very interested in the wall, so he stared at it when he wasn't sleeping.

Speaking of fussy, here is our man looking less than mature in his big boy outfit.

Let's hope he isn't as upset today. Yesterday was a rough one. They say that around the 6-week point we can expect him to smile at us. I think we got a few almost smiles, but nothing for sure. But he can wear pants now, so it's not like he isn't making progress. He is noticeably taller now and his face is really filling out, as is his tummy. It's almost time to buy the next size diapers.

Working for the Weekend

Andrew probably doesn't know what a weekend is, but he is ready for it. Here he is, deep in thought as he is much of the time he spends not sleeping or crying. He is really growing and his face is filling out nicely. He will spend some quality time outdoors this weekend, weather permitting. Saturday is supposed to be 80 degrees and sunny, so we should have some fun. I can't wait to get a bike seat for him so we can ride all over. For now, his car seat does the job.

It Might As Well Be Swing

Andrew seems to be crying a bit less than last week. I love it when he is awake and content. He watches his hands as he moves them all around, and stares up and his mother and I, or anyone holding him for that matter. He looks to be getting closer to a real smile... not just the kind he does when nature calls.

Moving onto swinging - Andrew really loves swinging, possibly over eating and sleeping. Its gotten to the point where I now carry his swing upstairs each evening and back down every morning before I go to work.

He cries in his crib, his bouncy seat, his other bouncy seat, but the swing usually works. Its on par with the car seat for relaxing him to the point of sleep.

A few minutes of this and he is off to sleep. Sometimes this lasts for a few minutes, sometimes a few hours.

By this point you may be asking why he is always shirtless. No, he is not one of those babies from a bad home, its just that he spits up on every shirt we put him in, usually once an hour or so, and I would rather have him bundled up in a blanket (or better yet a burp cloth, since he turns blankets into those anyway), than have him sleeping in a soaked shirt. Perhaps my next update will feature various pictures of him all dressed up.

5 weeks

Andrew is five weeks old today. Here is is yesterday sleeping on his grandparent's couch. It takes a special kind of man to successfully pull off white pants, and Andrew has what it takes. Here is a bit about him;

Likes
1. sleeping (more day than night)
2. eating
3. peeing (constantly)
4. swinging
5. crying
6. screaming while crying
7. spitting up
8. riding in the car/sleeping

Dislikes
1. Constantly being licked by the dog
2. diaper changes
3. wardrobe changes
4. clothes not covered in spit up
5.dropping his Binky
6. blankets covering any part of his body
7. getting in and out of his car seat

He is getting close to 7lbs now, placing him on the normal growth chart, although pretty much at the bottom. He celebrated by taking a good nap in the car.

He did a great job sleeping last night, possibly to make up for Saturday night/Sunday morning when sleeping for more than 30 minutes was out of the question. Here he is in between screams. He was willing to let me test out my camera I got the day before. My pictures should be getting better as I get more comfortable with the camera, but it works well enough for now. I imagine my 2GB SD card will be filled with pictures of him in no time. Perhaps I should consider buying an extra.

More to come...
